The evaluation of dolphin blow cytology is a method which is simple, quick and easy to perform.

DOLPHIN LAB offers to evaluate dolphin blow samples if the samples are of good quality and taken according to our standard protocol.

We also provide all material necessary for taking good quality blow samples for cytology, including boxes for sending the microscopic slides.

Regarding this methodology, it is highly recommended to establish an “individual profile” of the blow cytology for each dolphin over some time, because the cytology often reveals subtle changes of the immune status or pathogen carrier status.
Additionally, knowing the blow cytology characteristics of an individual dolphin greatly improves the interpretation.
